The Terry Fox Run is a charity event that raises money for cancer research. The walk started and finished again at Radisson SAS hotel. The run is a great opportunity to increase awareness and involve the community in this charitable event

November 2005

As part of its 5^th Anniversary Celebrations, Muscat Private Hospital invited Mohammed Abdullah Al-Hajry to the hospital on the anniversary date of the launch of the hospital on 24^th November.  Mohammed was the very first patient to receive treatment in the hospital when it first opened. To honour his special place in MPH history, Mohammed was presented with a complimentary consultation token, a commemorative mug and chocolates from the Hospital Director, Malcolm Hughes.

Eid Exhibition at Hyatt Hotel

Muscat Private Hospital participated in the Eid Exhibition organized by Dr Al Ata’a to help raise funds for the needy.  The exhibit took place at Hyatt Hotel on the 24^th & 25^th of October 2005.  The evening was a great success and the funds raised go to the charity group which sponsors a great many projects.

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

 1st October  2005

As part of the hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign which started on 17^th September more than 20 staff members from Muscat Private Hospital participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on 1^st October. The Walk was arranged by the NACA group (The National Association For Cancer Awareness). Their logo for this year was “Be Aware Show You Care”. The event was a great success with more than 3,000 people of all different ages and nationalities participating in the walk. Muscat Private Hospital donated two Well Woman Package coupons for the lucky draw held after the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

Invitation by Nizwa Hospital – Annual Regional Obs & Gynae Seminar

Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) was requested to conduct a scientific meeting at the Nizwa Hospital on Thursday, 8^th September 2005 for their Annual Regional Meeting. The presentation was an “Update in Assisted Reproduction Technology”.  The seminar was run by Dr. Majida Al-Irhayim (Head of Assisted Conception Unit, MPH), Dr. Najwa Saif (Infertility Consultant, MPH), Dr. Mostafa A. Nabi (ER/Family Medicine Physician, MPH), Zainab Al-Saadeh (Embryologist, MPH) and Maha Hajjar (Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator, MPH).

 Presentations covered different topics such as: Guideline & Ethical Considerations in Assisted Conception by Dr. Majida Al Iryahim, Ovulation Induction & Controlled Ovarian Stimulation by Dr. Najwa Saif, Management of Various forms of Male Infertility by Dr. Mustafa A. Nabi and Laboratory Procedures in Intra-Uterine Insemination & In-Vitro Fertilization by Zainab Saadeh.

The meeting was a great success with over 140 doctors and others in attendance from different regions such as Salalah, Sur, Ibra and others, and based on the feedback received, the seminar which was very much appreciated by all.

The first Open House was held for doctors Muscat wide to attend a lecture by Dr. Mohammed Al Alawee on the use of CT and MRI.  A tour of the facilities was also on the agenda.

American University of Beirut Gala dinner

MPH is co-sponsoring the American University of Beirut Gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. MPH will donate two gift vouchers – one each for the Executive Health Checkup and the Well Women package.

Medical Staff 18^th Annual Workshop

MPH co-sponsored the 18^th Annual Workshop of Medical Staff in the private health establishments. Over 350 doctors from the private sector attended the workshop.

German Doctors Visit

A group of professors and doctors from various University-Hospitals in Germany visited the hospital to discuss means of co-operation between MPH and these Hospitals in Germany. They were representing the German Medical Services office, which is located in Muscat.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme  held on 11^th April 2005, the guest speaker was : Prof. Jean Garcia, M.D., Professor of Radiology, Foundation des Grangettes, Geneva (Switzerland) on the topic of: “Diagnostic Imaging of Osteomyelitis”

Continuing Medical Education Programme held on Monday, 28^th March 2005 at the Main Foyer, Muscat Private Hospital. The topic was: Back Pain Made ‘Easy’: When to Treat, When to Refer. The speaker was: Dr. Abdullah Al-Harthy, Senior Consultant Surgeon – Orthopaedic & Hand Surgery.

We participated in the American British Academy’s (ABA) Careers Fair on March 21, 2005. During the Careers Fair, students were able to meet with professionals and employers, covering a wide range of occupations, asking a variety of questions with regards to each career. MPH was represented there (for Doctors) by Dr. E.B.S. Ramanathan; (for Physiotherapy) by Bodil Stene; and (for Nursing), by Sarah Andrews and Joanne Connolly.

We participated in the Second Medical Week at Sultan Qaboos University on March 13, 2005. It was a great success, attracting large numbers of medical students.

Sponsoring the Annual International day of The American International School

Sponsoring The American School of Muscat (TAISM) International Day celebration on March 10, 2005. A gift voucher from MPH for Executive Health Check-up was donated as one of the presents for the Lucky draw. The event was a huge success and over 1000 people including families from TAISM as well from the British School, Royal Flight School, Philippines School, Indian School, Al Gubrah School and the Russian Ballet School of Dance who were in attendance.

Gulf Netball tournament

24th & 25th Feb, 2005

Muscat Private Hospital was pleased to sponsor the Inter-Gulf Netball Championship 2005 at the Al Bustan Hotel on 24^th and 25^th of February 2005. We sponsor the Championship by providing them with medical care if needed for the players where our nurse was available all through the matches for two days and to provide the ambulance services.

The Terry Fox Run is a charity event that raises money for cancer research. The walk started and finished at Radisson SAS hotel. A fun program with a lot of activities took place before the run. It is a great opportunity to help to increase awareness and contribute to the local community by involvement in this charitable event.

Muscat Private Hospital sponsored the Ambulance Services for the Annual Sports Day of the Karnataka Wing of Indian Social Club for emergency first aid.  Hospital banner and posters were displayed and leaflets were distributed.  The organizers and the participants of the event highly appreciated Muscat Private Hospital for the support provided.

Male and Female Infertility Forum

Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) and Al Mar’a magazine organized a unique informative and interactive Forum about Male and Female Infertility. Not being able to conceive a child could be a blow to many couples. But today thanks to the advancements in the field of medicine, infertility can be cured.
At the Forum which took place on February 3rd 2005 at the Inter-Continental Hotel, Dr. Majida Al- Irhayim, Senior Consultant from MPH’s Assisted Conception Unit, talked about female infertility and Dr. Mustafa Abdel Nabi, Family Medicine Physician discussed the male sexual dysfunction related to male infertility and implant testosterone which is exclusively done at MPH.
