Besides being country’s premier private hospital, Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) is the first private hospital in the country to have successfully conducted cardiac surgery. Dr. Rami Neematullah, Consultant Cardiologist, Allied Diagnostics, spoke about CT Angiogram while Dr. Kadhim Jaffer, Consultant Cardiologist spoke on the importance of the role of the cardiologist in the patient pathway. Dr Taha Al Delamie, Senior Consultant, Cardiothoracic Surgeon briefed the guests about the cardiothoracic services at MPH and Marianna Kotze, Clinical Business Unit manager – Critical Care Services & Ward explained the importance of patient safety, care and clinical outcomes.

Every year, on 12th May, nurses all over the world celebrate International Nurses Day. In keeping with this tradition, Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) also celebrated International Nurses Day on May 14, 2009. The ICN (International Council of Nursing) is based in Geneva, and is a federation of national nursing associations in 132 countries; representing millions of nurses worldwide.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme held on 16th April 2007, the speaker was Dr. Tariq Amin Sheikh, M.B.B.S, DIP.Orth, F.A.M.S, F.R.C.S, M.B.A Health Management, Senior Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, on the topic “Awareness and Prevention of Paediatric Orthopaedic Problems”.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme held on 15th January 2007, the speaker was Dr E.B.S. RAMANATHAN, MS, FRCS, FRCS orth, MCh orth, Chairman, Scientific Commission, Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM), Member, Scientific Commission, International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS), Vice –President, Indian Association of Sports Medicine (IASM), on the topic “Recent advances in the management of knee injuries”.

The Terry Fox Run is a charity event that raises money for cancer research. The walk started and finished again at Radisson SAS hotel. The run is a great opportunity to increase awareness and involve the community in this charitable event

As part of its 5th Anniversary Celebrations, Muscat Private Hospital invited Mohammed Abdullah Al-Hajry to the hospital on the anniversary date of the launch of the hospital on 24th November. Mohammed was the very first patient to receive treatment in the hospital when it first opened. To honour his special place in MPH history, Mohammed was presented with a complimentary consultation token, a commemorative mug and chocolates from the Hospital Director, Malcolm Hughes.

Muscat Private Hospital participated in the Eid Exhibition organized by Dr Al Ata’a to help raise funds for the needy. The exhibit took place at Hyatt Hotel on the 24th & 25th of October 2005. The evening was a great success and the funds raised go to the charity group which sponsors a great many projects.

As part of the hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign which started on 17th September more than 20 staff members from Muscat Private Hospital participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on 1st October. The Walk was arranged by the NACA group (The National Association For Cancer Awareness). Their logo for this year was “Be Aware Show You Care”. The event was a great success with more than 3,000 people of all different ages and nationalities participating in the walk. Muscat Private Hospital donated two Well Woman Package coupons for the lucky draw held after the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme held on 15th August 2005, the speaker was : Dr. Mohd. Al-Alawee, Senior Consultant Radiologist on the topic of: “Radiology Update: recent advances explained”.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme held on 18th July 2005, the speaker was : Dr. Radhakrishnan, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology & Endoscopy on the topic of: “Gastroenterology Update: bowel dysmotility syndromes”.

he first Open House was held for doctors Muscat wide to attend a lecture by Dr. Mohammed Al Alawee on the use of CT and MRI. A tour of the facilities was also on the agenda.

MPH is co-sponsoring the 3rd Asian Conference on Science & Football Medicine by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to be held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel.

MPH is co-sponsoring the American University of Beirut Gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. MPH will donate two gift vouchers – one each for the Executive Health Checkup and the Well Women package.

MPH co-sponsored the 18th Annual Workshop of Medical Staff in the private health establishments. Over 350 doctors from the private sector attended the workshop.

A group of professors and doctors from various University-Hospitals in Germany visited the hospital to discuss means of co-operation between MPH and these Hospitals in Germany. They were representing the German Medical Services office, which is located in Muscat.

At the Continuing Medical Education Programme held on 11th April 2005, the guest speaker was : Prof. Jean Garcia, M.D., Professor of Radiology, Foundation des Grangettes, Geneva (Switzerland) on the topic of: “Diagnostic Imaging of Osteomyelitis”

Continuing Medical Education Programme held on Monday, 28th March 2005 at the Main Foyer, Muscat Private Hospital. The topic was: Back Pain Made ‘Easy’: When to Treat, When to Refer. The speaker was: Dr. Abdullah Al-Harthy, Senior Consultant Surgeon – Orthopaedic & Hand Surgery.

We participated in the American British Academy’s (ABA) Careers Fair on March 21, 2005. During the Careers Fair, students were able to meet with professionals and employers, covering a wide range of occupations, asking a variety of questions with regards to each career. MPH was represented there (for Doctors) by Dr. E.B.S. Ramanathan; (for Physiotherapy) by Bodil Stene; and (for Nursing), by Sarah Andrews and Joanne Connolly.

We participated in the Second Medical Week at Sultan Qaboos University on March 13, 2005. It was a great success, attracting large numbers of medical students.

Sponsoring The American School of Muscat (TAISM) International Day celebration on March 10, 2005. A gift voucher from MPH for Executive Health Check-up was donated as one of the presents for the Lucky draw. The event was a huge success and over 1000 people including families from TAISM as well from the British School, Royal Flight School, Philippines School, Indian School, Al Gubrah School and the Russian Ballet School of Dance who were in attendance.

Hospital banner and posters were displayed and leaflets were distributed. The organizers and the participants of the event highly appreciated Muscat Private Hospital for the support provided.

Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) and Al Mar’a magazine organized a unique informative and interactive Forum about Male and Female Infertility. Not being able to conceive a child could be a blow to many couples. But today thanks to the advancements in the field of medicine, infertility can be cured.
At the Forum which took place on February 3rd 2005 at the Inter-Continental Hotel, Dr. Majida Al- Irhayim, Senior Consultant from MPH’s Assisted Conception Unit, talked about female infertility and Dr. Mustafa Abdel Nabi, Family Medicine Physician discussed the male sexual dysfunction related to male infertility and implant testosterone which is exclusively done at MPH.
