elcome to the Family Medicine (FM) department of Muscat Private Hospital.
This pamphlet has been designed to give you some important information about
our practice.
We have 4 experienced doctors offering you a 24 hour service including all
family medicine services, adult health screening and a full emergency room
(ER) service.
We aim to offer you a system of medical care where our doctors manage your
primary health care requirements. We will refer to the appropriate consultant
any medical condition that requires specialist attention.
1. Our Doctors:

We try to
have your favorite doctor available to you as often as possible, but
due to our rotational roster, this may not be always possible. However,
rest assured our team of practitioners will do their best to ensure your
health requirements are always met.
2. Booking Appointments:
We try to give our booked patients preference, so that they are seen at
their appointed time. Walk in patients will be seen as soon as possible,
but this may require a short wait to accommodate previously booked patients.
Walk in patients will be given an appointment time as they present to
the department. Sometimes emergency patients may cause a delay in your
appointment. We will, however, do our best to ensure that patients are
not kept unnecessarily waiting.

Although we offer a 24 hour service, it is preferable for patients
to use the clinic hours for their appointments. It is during these times
that the laboratory, radiology and pharmacy are functioning normally.
Patients should really only use the time outside the clinics for emergencies.
5. Fees:
We have to charge you for our services, but we think our fees are fair
for the level of service we give. Please bear in mind that our consultation
fee only covers the cost of seeing the doctor. It does not cover other
auxiliary services or services from other departments in the hospital.
However, for quick follow up visits, such as review of results
or a quick check of a plaster cast we will not charge you.
To give you a 24-hour service we have to charge you an after hour fee
which is different from the usual clinic fee. These fees will be charged
for visits outside clinic times. That is, daily from 20h00 to 08h00 Sat
to Wed, Thursday 14h00 to 08h00 and all day Friday.
There are
additional fees charged for procedures, such as injections, dressings,
excision of skin lesions, removal of toe nail, etc. as these require the
use of consumable items.
For the services provided our charges are reasonable.
6. Referrals:
Our doctors may refer you to one of our specialist clinics - a separate
fee is charged for this.
Some services are out sourced, such as Computer Axial Tomography (CT)
scan, and Nuclear Magnetic Image (MRI) scan. Our staff will make appointments
for these investigations for you. In the near future these services will
be available at MPH with State of the Art equipment.
Please contact your FM doctor should any problem arises with your referral
arrangements.
7. Reports:
If you have previously been seen at other hospitals or clinics, please
try and bring with you all relevant medical reports, X-rays, special investigations,
and medicine prescriptions. This may save you a great deal of time and
money.
We do not as a rule, supply medical reports, but there are certain
incidences where you may need one. Please advise you FM doctor if you
require such a report.
8. Interpretation:
Our doctors are international and are able to speak English. Please advise
the admissions staff if you require an Arabic interpreter.

10. Complaints:
Please bring any problems to the attention of our Customer Services Staff.
